My name is Scott Merchant and I have been in the real estate business for what seems like my whole life. My Dad, David Merchant, was a builder in Amarillo Texas, I helped him as I was growing up build over 2000 houses. 

Currently working for Zillow helping real estate agents with their marketing, I also run a small land company, I call it Merchant Marketing, buying land,  houses and sometimes commercial buildings. 

We operate as a land company, and a marketing company so we have lots of options to help you.  We do a couple different things with properties when we get them. We’re pretty small company we typically buy and sell less than 100 properties per year but typically we’re going to do one of just a few things when we acquire a property.


Sometimes we are looking to buy and hold, but eventually we’re going to sell it and make some money. We work with a lot of other investors so sometimes We’ll joint venture with them, they’ll put in some money and we’ll put in some money and work together on it.

Sometimes we’ll work with some local builders to do some new construction. We’ll build it out to a certain point and then find a buyer. Then other times we leverage some marketing platforms like the multiple listing service, and partner with some local real estate companies. Merchant Marketing is a marketing company so we specialize in communicating our deals to wealthy investors, overseas buyers, online platforms and investment funds managers.

But essentially, what I want you to understand here is that at the end of the process the closing always will look the same to you. The title company will just ask you, if you want a wire or check.
